Don’t Be Like A Dumb Monkey

An important spiritual lesson can be learned by observing how the baboon, a type of monkey, is sometimes caught. In this video he grabs the bait, but can’t get his hand out of the narrow hole because he won’t let go! If he merely let go of the bait, he could pull his hand free and escape from the monkey trap with his life.

The devil tempts us to sin. His bait (sinful temptations) looks alluring and good, but is deadly. To be freed from the trap of sin, you must let go of the sin (repent). Until you do, you are like that dumb monkey caught in that primitive monkey trap waiting for the inevitable!

But each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. (James 1:14-16)

If you are trapped by sin, don’t be like a dumb monkey.
