Jesus’ Intercession For Us

Jesus’ intercession for us (the saints) is a comforting fact, as well as a Bible mystery! The reason why Jesus has to intercede for the saints reflects the need the saints have for his powerful influence, but for what specifically? What is the mysterious need?

Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who diedmore than that, who was raised to lifeis at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. (Rom 8:34)

Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. (Heb 7:25)

Somehow Jesus’ intercession for us must be connected with the spiritually perilous days in which we live. Did you know Jesus is now praying for us? That means his bloody death on the cross for us—where redemption was paid for in full— was not and is not the end of his labors and efforts in our behalf! It is common knowledge that Jesus is now sitting on the throne at the right hand of God, but from there he is also interceding for the saints! Imagine that, but again WHY? Peter wrote:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. (2 Tim 3:1-5)

Demons are rampant, the devil himself prowls around throughout the world trying to devour Christians and the pressures of life crash down on us all. Famines, droughts and pestilences continue to occur. Corporately, all of that has adversely affected some Christians to, unfortunately, go back as a dog to his vomit. Our spiritual race is not an easy downhill slide into Paradise like the license for immorality teachers (those who deny King David lost his salvation with adultery and murder) try to get us to believe. We must continue in God’s kindness and faith or we’ll be broken off over unbelief like Israel was (Rom. 11:21,22). As hard as it is to live holy and remain faithful to Jesus, imagine what it would be like if Jesus wasn’t interceding for us! His powerful intercession is a super advantage, but some still turn to evil and die spiritually. Jesus told us in Luke 12:35 to, keep your lamps burning, yet 5 out of 10 of the virgins will not (Mt. 25:1-13), in spite of Jesus’ intercession for us. Imagine that!
