Righteous Lot

As mentioned at an earlier point, the once saved always saved teachers will distort any passage they can to make allowances for wickedness and salvation at the same time. What they teach about righteous Lot is a prime example. Peter mentioned righteous Lot in his second epistle:

If he [God] rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)– (2 Pet 2:7,8)

The context of that passage is clearly when righteous Lot was living among the Sodomites day after day. How can we be sure about that? It also says Lot was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard. That’s when he was living in Sodom. Furthermore, Peter referred to righteous Lot as an example of a righteous man, whom God has rescued. Lot was rescued out of Sodom before God destroyed it over their great sins (Gen. 19:23-25). These points show the definite timing when Lot was righteous.
righteous Lot being led out of Sodom
In contrast to the context, the once saved always saved teachers focus in upon a different time, that is, after Lot was delivered from Sodom and was living in a cave with his two daughters! Those same grace changers are quick to point out that Lot got drunk and both of his daughters got pregnant by him (Gen. 19:32-38), thereby inferring that a righteous person can also get drunk and impregnate his daughters too! They seem to forget that Lot did not know what his oldest daughter did to him:

That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and lay with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. (Gen 19:33)

Hence, the once saved always saved teachers have made another allowance for sin and salvation, as well as their own heretical doctrine by distorting God’s word into something it doesn’t say about righteous Lot! They are also blinded to the fact that one’s righteous standing before God can change through sin. Clearly spiritual death will come on a righteous person, if he turns to evil (Ezek. 18:24; etc.).

BTW, even if their argument about righteous Lot wasn’t wrenched from its context and distorted as it is, it still wouldn’t prove eternal security because there might be some other ways (and surely are various ways) to lose salvation. Hence, their righteous Lot argument isn’t solid for their doctrine of eternal security, but works with the gullible, who turn their ears from the truth to myths (2 Tim. 4:3,4). [Are you obeying the command to contend for the faith against the many grace changers of our day?]

Christian Love and Faith

Christian evangelismChristian love and faith can be manifested in various ways. One of the least recognized ways is through Christian evangelism. Since the GREATEST need a person has is the salvation of the SOUL, then it is obvious that Christians should be trying to help the lost and deceived find eternal life. Just that insight alone should motivate Christians, but Christians have also had the love of God shed abroad in their hearts (Rom. 5:5). Evangelism and pastoral care for the sheep (to build them up and help keep them saved) were outstanding characteristics of the Apostle Paul, as his various epistles prove. Paul labored for SOULS that way for several reasons, especially because of his Christian love and faith:

The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. (1 Tim 1:14)

So, Paul had an abundance of Christian love (as well as grace and faith) and that was expressed by his fervent zeal to get souls saved and help the saints. Nothing could stop Paul, including beatings, death threats, imprisonments, sleepless nights, lack, etc. He shed his blood nine times early in his ministry, but kept pressing on. He was like a bulldozer plowing along in Christ, being compelled by Christian love and faith.

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. (2 Cor 5:14,15)

But other Christians also manifested their Christian love and faith through evangelism too. For example, the Thessalonians did that:

The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia–your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, (1 Thess 1:8)

The Christians in that congregation were noted for holding out the word of life, which was a clear reflection of their faith in God. But what about Y-O-U? If you profess to be a Christian, what are you doing to help win to the Lord Jesus the multitude of lost souls around you? That is their GREATEST need. Are you aware that you have been entrusted with the gospel and will have to account to God for that trust one day? Verbally acknowledging Jesus before others will splash back a wonderful spiritual blessing on you (Mt. 10:32). To help you win the lost, also consider a gospel tract evangelism ministry.  Salvation literature is very powerful but greatly underestimated in our day. You can purchase Biblically sound literature in bulk at Evangelical Books or print them FREE yourself from Poor Man’s Free Gospel Tracts and Cartoons. Remember to manifest your Christian love and faith by spreading the gospel in your area. SOULS hang in the balance. God bless you.

Catholic Penance During Lent

Catholic doing penance during Lent. His back is cut with glass and is covered with his own blood. There are millions of sincere Roman Catholics who think they have to do some sort of personal suffering to get their own sins forgiven. Consequently, in countries like the Philippines and elsewhere, during Lent some Roman Catholics crawl on their knees or bellies, cut themselves, beat themselves to the point of blood flow, etc. to atone for their sins. They miss the basic Biblical truth that Jesus died and suffered for them and therefore they do these strange unscriptural things in vain. While it is factual that true repentance (not penance) which brings about salvation has sorrow with it (2 Cor. 7:10), the sorrowful don’t try to atone for their own sins that way.

We are told, Lent is a period of 40 days before Easter in recognition of Jesus fasting and being tempted by the devil for 40 days before his ministry began. Prior to the 40 day period of depriving oneself of certain luxuries is the infamous and ungodly Mardi Gras celebration where wickedness abounds. The Mardi Gras is an open public festivity involving excessive eating, drinking and even orgies for some, which will precede the upcoming 40 day period of fasting (Lent) and depriving oneself afterwards. Pagan practices like these are far from the message of the New Testament.

The truth is: the Lord Jesus shed his blood on the cross in a one time for all sin blood sacrifice. It was finished at the cross. See John 19:30; Heb. 7:27; 9:12; 9:26,28; 10:10; 1 Pet. 3:18; etc. His sinless blood was acceptable and sufficient, but ours could never be and is not needed. Hence, to shed your own blood to add to Jesus’ sacrifice is an insult to what Jesus has already fully accomplished by himself. It is useless for Catholics, regardless how sincere, to try to atone for their sins by personal sufferings! It is also important for Catholics to know their priest can’t forgive their sins and Mary the mother of Jesus should not be viewed the way they were taught. As a former Roman Catholic, I (Dan Corner) know from first-hand experience. **Don’t allow false teachings deceive you from getting eternal life, which is in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pride

Proud Look
Pride is a unique type of sin, as well as a manifestation of spiritual ignorance, even though some very intelligent people are proud! In fact, a high IQ can tend to lead to pride as does beauty, strength, wealth, power, popularity, etc. No person, regardless how successful, wealthy, athletic, popular, physically attractive, etc. has anything he wasn’t given from God! Man can develop certain skills and abilities to some degree, but God was the one who gave him his potential and ability. If a proud person really understood that he has nothing to be proud about, he would never get in such a terrible condition. Here is a good verse reflecting the reality and frailty of man:

Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he? (Isa 2:22)

God has also specifically stated he opposes the proud:

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Pet 5:5)

If Almighty God opposes you, you have NO CHANCE! Be assured, your enemy the devil, who can come as an angel of light will try to get you in pride! So, watch out for pride creeping into your heart. Also, remember that your “glory,” whatever it is, is very temporary and will soon fade like a flower:

All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever. (1 Pet 1:24,25)

Furthermore, we will all be humbled, with no exception. Jesus taught:

I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 18:14)

Either you humble yourself (and get grace from God because of it) or God will oppose and humble you! The choice is yours, but isn’t it easy to know what to do and what to avoid? The context of Luke 18:14 shows the man who humbled himself, sincerely, humbly and sorrowfully asked God for mercy because of his sins. He was “exalted” by getting his sins forgiven and justified. The other man, in Jesus’ teaching, didn’t get his sins forgiven! You must be humble to get your sins forgiven. Pride will hide that vital need:

In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. (Psa 10:4)

Imagine having a heart so deceived that it doesn’t have room to think about God! That is the result of pride! Pride precedes destruction and a fall (Prov 16:18). Pride breeds quarrels (Prov. 13:10) and deceives (Obadiah 1:3). Pride will bring you down (Prov 29:23). If you are proud, God has a day set aside for you:

The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled) (Isa 2:12)

Will God humble and oppose you because of pride or will you humble yourself, receive grace and get exalted? The choice is yours, but it also your eternal existence! Do you have saving faith?

The Wrath of God Is Coming

The Bible speaks of three different major events which are coming to our planet. In the order of their arrival, they are:

  •  the Antichrist (1 John 2:18)
  •  the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thess. 4:15; 2 Thess. 2:1; etc.)
  •  the wrath of God (1 Thess. 1:10; Col. 3:6)

wrath of GodMost Christians know Jesus is coming back again and many are, therefore, wrongly waiting in vain for an any moment rapture to snatch them away to heaven before the Antichrist arrives. If we are the last generation, such people will be sadly disappointed when it doesn’t happen like they were taught. Some may have their faith in Jesus crushed at that time because of false teaching. (The Bible teaches a post tribulation rapture, not a pre-trib rapture.) First, the Antichrist will come, then the Christ. After that the wrath of God is coming.

We tend to hear very little about the wrath of God, which is also coming. The wrath of God will hit after the Rapture (Rev. 6:16,17; 11:18) and our being gathered to Jesus. Jesus will rescue us from God’s wrath (1 Thess. 1:10). But WHY is the wrath of God coming to the planet? Here is the answer:

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. (Col 3:5,6)

The answer is SIN. Sin has always provoked the anger and wrath of God. God’s wrath can be so furious, as shown in Noah’s day, that all were destroyed who were not in the Ark. Some estimate there were 1 billion people then because the people lived so long. God killed them all because of their SINS. The same is shown again with Sodom and Gomorrah. Various people were also struck dead by God in the Old Testament showing the same. In the New Testament, Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead over ONE LIE (Acts 5:1-10). God doesn’t change! Sin brings out his worst and the final out pouring of God’s wrath will be the most terrifying of all. Read what happens for yourself in Revelation. Billions will die, as sin and wickedness prevail and truth and godliness are suppressed. But even now, the Christians are told to PUT TO DEATH whatever belongs to their earthly nature (Col. 3:5). It is our responsibility, under grace, to do that now. It is a fight to the death. Either the Christian does that with the help of God or the flesh or sinful nature will put him to spiritual death. Sin remains the issue and will lead to the coming of the wrath of God again. Do YOU have eternal life NOW?

The Hidden Manna and White Stone

A close study of the Bible will reveal mystery after mystery. WHY? Because the Bible was chiefly written to inform mankind about eternal life and how to get such (2 Tim. 3:15). As that is done, many side issues are mentioned but not explained in the detail we may like them to be. Even after the grave, the righteous will see, hear and do things we now have little understanding of. Such overcomers will also all receive in the Kingdom some hidden manna and a white stone, with a new name written on it! While addressing the church in Pergamum, Jesus said:

white stone

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it. (Rev 2:17)

That is all we have about the hidden manna and the white stone! Why they will be given and for what later purpose is not stated. No one knows. In fact, there really isn’t enough information to even take much of an educated guess! Furthermore, the white stone will have a “new name written on it.” Will it be the recipient’s name? Seemingly, but even that is not clear.

Heaven will surely not be a boring place. How could it be, since the infinite and almighty designer of creation never runs out of ideas and it was prepared for the righteous (Mt. 25:34) or those who love God:

However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Cor 2:9)

Exciting days are ahead for all the overcomers. Those days will include the mysterious hidden manna and the white stone, with a new name written on it! Do you know Jesus NOW? Do you have saving faith? What Bible verses do you base your salvation on?

Porn Addiction

(BIBLE QUESTION) I found your site while searching for answers and I was thoroughly blessed. However, I felt the need to talk to someone about a present recurring challenge. porn addictionI’m confused as to why a born again, spirit filled person like me is constantly consumed in recurring immoral thoughts, porn addiction etc. I feel under so much sexual pressure (I’m single and in my thirties) and the more I ask God to help me the more I find myself struggling. I know what scripture says but I find myself helpless in those lustful situations. Why is this so? Please pray with me and send me a word straight to my soul. God bless you immensely.

(BIBLE ANSWER) Greetings in Jesus’ name. Are you sure you were really saved? [It is impossible to be a Christian and addicted to pornography.] When the blood of Jesus cleanses, it also sets one free from his sin addictions (Rom. 6:22). To get salvation and that freedom from sin you have to PUT TO DEATH the flesh:

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. (Gal 5:24)

Romans 6 gives more important details about getting freed from sin addictions. Also, sin can enslave one again (2 Pet. 2:20-22). Hence, Christians are to keep themselves pure (1 Tim. 5:22). YOU can be victorious over sexual temptation.

**To cut out TV, secular music and looking at magazines will help you much. They can all generate lust. Instead, FLOOD YOUR MIND WITH SCRIPTURE. MEMORIZE BIBLE VERSES and read at least 3 chapters a day. Stay away from UNGODLY people, as much as possible. YOU ARE BATTLING FOR ETERNITY. YOU MUST GET DEAD SERIOUS or YOU WILL NOT OVERCOME. See Rev. 2:10,11. GOD BLESS YOU. 1 Cor. 2:9.

Near Death Experiences

(BIBLE QUESTION) I reviewed your website response to the Near Death Experience phenomenon. I feel I must respond to your comments. You seem to make a sweeping accusation that Near Death Experiences are inherently evil. I’m not sure this is true or wise. Religious dogma is not the appropriate response. I know of a an Near Death Experience case that lead to an individual becoming an ordained minister. How is that evil? Please be careful of condemning rhetoric. There are mysteries of GOD that we cannot explain, and certainly should not label as evil. HIS ways are not our ways. The minister I refer to clearly understood that he was touched by JESUS in a way that was pure love. His life was changed forever. To clarify, I am a believer. I know the bible well. I do not see Near Death Experiences as incompatible with scripture. As Christians we are taught to love one another. Near Death Experiences seem to repeatedly stress this need to love unconditionally. Judge not, lest you be judge.

(BIBLE ANSWER) Thank you for your email on Near Death Experiences. Since Near Death Experiences contradict one another, how do you know which ones should be discarded? If you are a Christian, then you should know the devil is VERY SUBTLE and DECEITFUL. He is the father of lies and could be the only source who would try to lead people away from the Biblical message of salvation only through the Lord Jesus (Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12; etc.). The Near Death Experiences have people in heaven who were NOT Bible-defined Christians!!!! There is something very wrong with them. God can’t, therefore, be the source. We are to draw our doctrines from the Scriptures ALONE (2 Tim. 3:16,17). BTW, just because someone became a minister after a Near Death Experience doesn’t mean he is good or even that he is doing the work of God by being a minister. There are MANY false prophets and false teachers (Mt. 24:11; etc.). Ponder Mt. 7:15. **Jesus taught MOST will go to hell (Mt. 7:13,14). That is NOT the message conveyed through the Near Death Experiences. Such is to make a right judgment, as commanded (John 7:24). GOD BLESS YOU. Remember 1 Cor. 6:9-11.

I Want To Learn About Jesus And The Bible

(BIBLE QUESTION) I have come across your web page for new Christians. I want to know more and learn about Jesus and the Bible. I am completely raw. I am a Muslim by birth. I am in search of new faith. Since my childhood I am inclined to Jesus. I have visited number of churches across few countries in Europe. I have even visited Vatican and Basilica while visiting Italy. Can you please guide me further. Thanks, God bless you.

bible God's word(BIBLE ANSWERS) Greetings in Jesus’ name. We are glad you found us. The best place to start is with the authority of the Bible. The Bible is not like any other book. It is God’s word and has the real truth about eternal life and how to have your life changed for the good. You will find REST FOR YOUR SOUL (Mat 11:29) and FREEDOM FROM YOUR SIN ADDICTIONS (Rom 6:22) when you get salvation. It is vital to learn about salvation and how to get your sins forgiven. You will have to act on or put into practice the message of the Bible to receive the blessing. Your SOUL is your most valuable possession, and it is good that you are thinking about spiritual things and the Lord Jesus. As a former Roman Catholic, I know from first hand experience that it is NOT accurate to the Bible. So what you saw and how you were influenced by going to Vatican should not sway your views as you seek God’s truth. Stick to the Bible like glue and you’ll be safe. Another good subject to ponder is Spiritual Safeguards. Please write back if you have questions. GOD BLESS YOU.

Positive Thinking

(BIBLE COMMENT) Your article regarding “friendship evangelism “was very devastating and an eyeopener! In your recent weekly letter I read somebody saying that we should focus on things we should agree upon (positive thinking!). ‘No negatives’ is implied, i.e., truth if negative should not be brought up (should be treated as irrelevant, obstructing relationship/unity, suppression of truth). This was practiced in the garden of Eden by Devil and Eve. positive bible thinkingThis type of thinking I believe is now permeating the world which I believe will lead to unity of all religions and one world government …. In Christ, (Chennai, India)

(BIBLE ANSWER) Greetings in Jesus’ name. THANK you for the kind words about our teaching on “friendship evangelism” and your observations about unity and being positive. TRUTH (as found in the Bible) is the real issue, as you know, but often it can be too offensive for those in sin or embracing religious myths. Hence, many shy away from it (2 Tim. 4:3,4) to their own hurt. Since there are so many false teachers wanting to tickle ears with lies to get a following, they aren’t teaching the truth so it makes it that much harder with various views. It is truly a sad day for many lost souls. Our present apostasy is worldwide and is preceding the rise of the Antichrist. Also as the economy keeps deteriorating, the pieces keeping falling into place for the end times events as cited in Scripture. To the harm of many will be the MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT that the Christians will NOT be raptured out of here before the Antichrist comes into power. We can only wonder how many will lose their faith when nuclear war starts and they are still here! We must not take the mark of the beast or we’ll lose our salvation (Rev. 14:9-12). We must remain spiritually prepared to die and therefore live everyday as though it could be our last. Judgment Day is awaiting all of us (Heb. 9:27). GOD BLESS YOU. Remember Rev. 21:4.
